Accessible Spain: Accessible Holidays and Accessible Holiday Accommodation in Spain.

"I am confined to a wheelchair with MS and stayed in The Granero recently. The property is fully accessible, something which others claim, but don't deliver. The wheel-in shower and spacious rooms with wide doorways are great on the practical side, whilst the hydraulic pool chair, massive outdoor cinema, telescope (need I go on?) are touches of luxury which are usually sadly lacking in 'disabled-friendly' properties.

Car hire is recommended, as it is in a rural location, but there is an adapted vehicle available for hire, complete with driver. The owners, Nigel and Jacqui, will go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure your stay is hassle-free. Highly recommended!"

We visited in August for 2 weeks and found it a most enjoyable and relaxed holiday. It is very much away from it all and quite remote so car hire is recommended although Nigel does offer wheelchair transport in his own adapted vehicle.

The Granero is well adapted with ramps into the main building and the pool has a hydraulic hoist which is easy to operate. The second bedroom which has 3 beds has a wheel-in shower and adapted toilet. A wheeled shower chair is provided. All the rooms are on one level and have double doors for easy access. Nigel has taken time to seek out restaurants and activities which can be accessed by a wheelchair but is always grateful for any feedback clients can give when other accessible places are found. The the outdoor chess set which was good fun, the outdoor cinema which was a great hit with everyone and meant a few very late nights and the pool was a good size.

Our flights were to and from Malaga which is some distance (1.5 hours drive) but had the advantage of some spectacular views on the way. Granada is a beautiful city and a must to visit and is only 45min drive. This has a closer airport served by Ryanair and would be the choice next time. The surrounding towns and villages give a view of the real Spain and Nigel has translated menus from some of his recommended restaurants but next time we will take a good Spanish phrase book and try to be less like tourists. All in all recommended for an accessible holiday to unwind relax and enjoy a rest."

"Being totally dependent upon my carers, it was refreshing to find accommodation the WAS totally suitable for the disabled. Many thanks to Jacqui and Nigel for making this a 50th birthday present to remember, many thanks again."
